Doughnut Plant Heading North to Plant new Sweetness Uptown
NEW YORK - December 2013 — The now world-famous Donut Plant began as a small baked goods business in a tiny basement on the lower east side of Manhattan. They expanded across generations through the years and steamrolled their way north toward upper Manhattan. There's no doubt the lower east side will always be home to Doughnut Plant, the bakery with the specialty in mouth-watering and creative donuts. After successfully expanding to the Chelsea Hotel a few years ago, the DPlant has maintained its lower east side location.
It has been reported that Doughnut Plant is interested in expanding either north east or north west to the upper west side or the upper east side. The time seems ripe and the donuts seem well cooked enough for phase two of the sweet company's march northward. Retail rents all over Manhattan are absolutely through the roof. We hope the sweet folks at this lower east side tourist attraction are ready for retail sticker shock from the established landlords of the upper environs of the borough of Manhattan.
