Lower East Side Tenement Museum

97 Orchard Street
Visit their website

The tenement at 97 Orchard Street was competed in 1864 right toward the end of tumultuous Civil War in America. Soon thereafter, the lower east side burst at the seams with immigrants. At one time, 495,592 people lived in this small area -- possibly more than half the entire population of the City. They all lived in tenements like this. Come and see this fascinating museum!
