jerry May 2009 - American Comedian Jerry Seinfeld gained worldwide fame when he starred as the lead in the American sitcom series that bore his name. A recent genealogic study discovered Mr Seinfeld's first ties to NYC were on the lower east side. At the top of the page is the ship's manifest that carried his grandfather from Europe to the USA. See the entry for Schimscher Seinfeld, a tailor. Mr Seinfeld's grandfather (who was actually named Simon) was met by his own brother (see lower manifest entry) who 'claimed him' and brought him into America and his new home on Orchard Street. Mr Jerry Seinfeld is a New Yorker through and through.

February 2012 -- Great Pickle Days Ahead!! International Pickle Day will return to the Lower East Side of Manhattan in the Spring of 2012.

Skipping 2011 for a variety of reasons, the renowned festival of all-things-pickle wll re-emerge from its short hiatus on April 29, 2012, a Sunday.

Let's hope for beautiful weather and plenty of pickle fans.
