Mark Israel is the owner of Doughnut Plant who transformed the longstanding business from just another pastry shop making doughnuts to one of the top tourist food destinations in Manhattan.

Mr Israel's grandfather was a baker and when Mark discovered his grandfather's old recipes, the magisc started. doughnut Plant makes two main types of doughnuts: yeast and cake. All doughnuts are transfat free, egg free, preservative free without artificial flavors.

With the success of the lower east side location on Grand Street has come expansion: Dougnut Plant is now found at the Chelsea Hotel in Manhattan as well as in the famous Bloomingdale's fashion store!

February 2012 -- Great Pickle Days Ahead!! International Pickle Day will return to the Lower East Side of Manhattan in the Spring of 2012.

Skipping 2011 for a variety of reasons, the renowned festival of all-things-pickle wll re-emerge from its short hiatus on April 29, 2012, a Sunday.

Let's hope for beautiful weather and plenty of pickle fans.
