The Mercury Lounge is a unique combination of urban understatement and East Village hip. The music room is in the back and past a long, dimly lit bar. It is a plain, brick-walled venue usually set with tables in front and standing room behind them. The Mercury Lounge is known for having one of the best sound systems in the city: full-bodied and clear, loud but without a cutting edge. Visitors will absolutely enjoy concerts here and tourists looking for a young experience in the city will find the wait at the rope lines to be worth it once inside.
Shows generally begin one hour after doors open. One to three support acts usually precede the headliner who will typically takes the stage at 10pm or 11pm. The Mercury Lounge has very limited seating in the live room. There are benches along the walls, but you'll want to stand - it is a rock show, right? |
